Ecotourism, if it is well managed, has a low impact on an ecosystem and raises awareness of important environmental issues. The property where our initial research plantings are growing is owned by a well established ecotourism business. The company, Platypus Bend Eco Retreat, hosts an exclusive dusk wildlife tour with traditional Australian BBQ dinner. Tour guests come to see the platypus that inhabit the pools on the Johnston River. After dinner they are treated to the night shift as the local nocturnal wildlife emerge from their slumber.

Rockwood Ventures’ reforestation operations have now advanced from initial research at Platypus Bend, to full-scale reforestation on our new permanent location in Topaz. The Owners of Platypus Bend Eco Retreat have recently elected to put their property and ecotourism business on the market and have asked us to list the property on this website. Interested parties should contact Dennis or Heather through the Platypus Bend website at the link above.
